Unlike a traditional stealth game focused on keeping yourself out of view or secretly taking out unsuspecting foes at close range, in sniping games like Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts you’re better off keeping your distance. It’s all about reveling in the careful, precise sniping that requires methodical movements and attention to detail. Contracts, in particular, is slow at times and the obligatory escapes can be a bit boring, but the long stretches of downtime are often punctuated by exhilarating explosions of gore that make it worthwhile.

A mostly inconsequential story about oil companies, international espionage, and vague politics loosely connects 25 contract objectives across five enormous sandbox-style maps. A forgettable prologue explains why it’s morally okay to assassinate each target for money. It was nice getting some context for why I’m being asked to murder dozens of people, but at the end of the day the game is called Sniper and it gives me a long gun with slow-mo powers so I don’t need much other motivation beyond that. From there it’s just a matter of completing your objectives and cashing the check. Sometimes you’re also hacking computer terminals, planting bombs, or stealing intel – all basic stuff.

Since the levels are so huge and mostly free of restrictions, it didn’t feel necessary or interesting to pay attention to the story. What makes completing a contract challenging, though, is the scope of the maps. They’re staggering in size and require fast-travel to get around in any reasonable amount of time. They range from urban coastlines full of cargo ships lining the harbor with massive oil rigs spread about, to enormous fortresses built into the side of glaciers, all the way to private mansions tucked away between forests. There’s a lot of variety, both visually and in terms of the environments forcing you to adapt your approach based on terrain and layout.

You have to get out of your comfort zone and put yourself in harm's way.


Most of the objectives are spread out so they don’t overlap too much and to allow you room to approach targets from different angles, but every now and then you’ll have to both kill a target and retrieve something that they were carrying. Those moments create delicious tension where simply landing a headshot from 300 meters away isn’t good enough: you have to get out of your comfort zone and put yourself in harm’s way, experiment with gadgets, and approach the level with more creativity than just camping in a lighthouse.

Similarly, after completing an objective, the other half of each mission is to reach an extraction point to upload the intel. This means you not only have to plan your attack, but your escape as well, which adds dramatic consequences for any decisions to be loud and aggressive – but this is also where the size of the maps started to feel like a hindrance. You cannot fast-travel when delivering intel, even if all enemies were killed on your way in, so prepare for lots of uneventful backtracking. At best, you’re moving through areas you’ve already figured out how to sneak through. The monotony is arguably a testament to its dedication to emulating the patient stealth of a “Ghost Warrior,” but in practice it leads to a lot of waiting, watching, and literal breath-holding.

There are three difficulty settings, with the lowest option being so forgiving that you have to quite literally kill someone in front of a guard’s face for them to start panicking and looking for you. On harder settings the AI becomes mostly capable, and enemies can sometimes notice you from a distance even before you see them, so the challenge is mostly there if you’re up for it. Generally their use of cover is fine, and they have a habit of leaving the tops of their heads or lower half exposed in a firefight to keep things from devolving into whack-a-mole. It’s still not easy to pick them off without room for error, but entirely possible. And of course, like with virtually every stealth game out there (especially Assassin’s Creed) if you retreat out of range for long enough they’ll stop searching for you and eventually reset, which always seems odd if you’ve just assassinated the person they were trying to protect.

Taking a shot in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is both an art and a science.


Just like most sniping games, taking a shot in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is both an art and a science. You need to pay attention to factors like the wind strength and direction just as much as how far away the target is, and even though your rifle’s optics do a great job of guiding you by showing how the bullet will drop off, lining up shots can be extremely tough. One contract required me to take out a woman who’d hired a body double, and I didn’t have the intel to tell them apart so I had to kill both. The issue is if you kill one, the other is alerted immediately, no matter where she is, and runs for the bunker. After shooting the first one I had to make a shot at a range of 350 meters at a moving target in high wind... and pulled it off! That was easily the most satisfying moment of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts for me, having prevailed against all odds.

Sometimes you’ve only got one chance for a shot like that, and if you blow it you’ll miss out on that contract unless you manage to chase them down (or reload a save). In some cases, when they escape they’re now hiding in an even more heavily guarded bunker you’ll have to somehow penetrate, but at least there are no real “fail states” here other than dying.

Scoring a hit on those big climatic shots requires precision, so the over-the-top kill cam is meant to feel like a celebratory reward. It’s certainly cool when you pull it off and see an entire brain explode out of a skull, but it’s also a bit over-exaggerated compared to the rest of Ghost Warrior Contracts’ grimdark serious tone. Somehow bizarrely killing an enemy because your sniper shot tore through his knee cap and created a dismembered ragdoll feels a bit out of place, but I’d be lying if I said the extra flare wasn’t at least partially enjoyable. Lining up a tough shot, unsure if you’re going to make it, then having the cinematic start as you pull the trigger always resulted in a sigh of relief, confirming I got the kill.

There is a litany of gadgets at your disposal, too. You can spend cash you earn from completing contracts to unlock powerful new guns and upgrades for your suit and visor, such as the ability to spot climbable objects and traps or zoom your binoculars farther to tag more enemies. Plus, there’s an assortment of gadgetry – everything from grenades and C4 to drones that help mark targets, and even remote-controlled sniper turrets that can fire at enemies on your command. Using these to line up simultaneous kill shots is a lot of fun and all of the gadgets really open up the ways to complete contracts. Tagging enemies with the drone, setting up the turret on the edge of a cliff, ziplining down to enemies, then dropping tagged enemies with your turret just by pressing a button on your approach feels really powerful.

Completing all of the base-level contracts on the five maps can take around 12 hours if you’re a capable marksman. Beyond the core objectives there are some side challenges to offer replayability (like completing contracts without alerting enemies, getting chain kills rapidly, or completing all contracts on a map without loading a checkpoint) but nothing all that interesting to me. There wasn’t enough incentive to care much personally – once I checked off the contracts I moved on without hesitation.

Verdict

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is a streamlined sniping simulator focused on specific objectives within open-ended mini sandbox levels. It gets off to a weak start with its forgettable story and tedious backtracking, but more than makes up for it with satisfying bullet physics, a delectable kill cam, and plenty of gadgets to help you kill from a distance.

Inazuma's Main Conflict & Storyline (Genshin Impact)


 Inazuma (/ˌinəˈz(j)uːmə/, /iˈnɑːzumə/) (Japanese稲妻 Inazuma) is one of the seven nations in Teyvat. It is the city-state that worships the Raiden Shogun, the Electro Archon, who is also the leader of its governing body, the Inazuma Shogunate. Inazuma is located approximately 4 km southeast from Liyue Harbor.

In the past year relative to the current events of the game, the situation in Inazuma has made a drastic turn towards isolationism, locked down under the Sakoku Decree"Baal" also enacted the related Vision Hunt Decree, declaring that Visions, as gifts from the gods, should be in the sole hands of divinity — and is now rounding up all Visions in Inazuma to inlay them in the hands of a statue of the Thousand-Armed, Hundred-Eyed God.

Atsuko, an Inazuman who defected to Liyue, describes the country as having a "tense" and "dangerous" environment and discourages traveling there; she also remarks that the Kanjobugyo, one of the Tri-Commission, conduct many assessments that citizens must pass in order to be given permission to leave Inazuma. She bypassed those assessments by making her own raft and fleeing to Liyue. However, the Fatui seem to be able to freely enter and exit due to their diplomatic immunity.

Access into Inazuma is unlocked after reaching Adventure Rank 30 and completing the first part of the Archon Quest Chapter II: Act I - The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia.

Archon Quest Chapter II: Omnipresence Over Mortals takes place in this nation.



Life in Inazuma

Life in Inazuma prior to Baal's Vision Hunt and Sakoku Decree is unknown, but Paimon states that Inazuma did not have any problems the year before she began accompanying the Traveler. After Baal issued her decrees, life in the country took a drastic turn for the worse for all, as available resources in the nation dropped and very few goods were imported in, forcing many businesses to look for alternate methods and crime is particularly rampant in Inazuma's wilderness, with large numbers of Treasure Hoarders and ronin like Nobushi and Kairagi.

Atsuko, a native of Inazuma, states that Inazuma has a very tense and dangerous atmosphere. Bibo likewise considers it to be very dangerous, claiming that while he can get anything at the right price, he refuses to get any Inazuman products.

Following the abolishment of the Vision Hunt Decree, life has slowly improved, although the Sakoku Decree appears to still be in effect. Nonetheless, both its citizens and foreigners living in Inazuma are happier with these positive changes.

Bake-Danukis are known to live in Inazuma, who enjoy pranking passersby by pretending to offer food and shelter, disguising it as leaves and mud. While humans are still the most predominant inhabitants of Inazuma, humanoids such as tenguoni and kitsune also live in the nation.

Inazuman samurai society often revolves around an honor system of sorts; samurai families, being relatively common in Inazuma, have an immense amount of pride and honor, often sending their children to serve in the Shogun's armies to glory and fame. Samurai are known to engage in duels from time to time. They are particularly prideful of their own skills; being bested in battle or duel by another or being helped by an outsider is typically considered to be shameful.

Designs, Motifs, and Symbols

Inazuma's Character Cards are similar to Mondstadt's: it features one large circle with a smaller circle inside, aligned towards the bottom of the larger circle. Inazuma's Vision shape takes up the top center of the space between the two circles, with five smaller circles on each side.

The bottom three circles' icons are largely the same: the bottommost depicts a sakura or cherry blossom, while the one above it depicts two different kumadori makeup styles used in Kabuki theater. Above that are two opposing animal envoys wearing their corresponding masks: A kitsune wearing a fox mask on the right side and an inugami wearing a dog mask on the left.

Of the remaining four circles, the bottom left one depicts coral and crashing waves, which is possible a reference to Orobashi. Above it is a Shinto shrine with a cherry blossom symbol above it. To the right of the Vision is an icon depicting the Tenshukaku, and below it is an icon of a mitsudomoe with a katana.

Economy



Book printing appears to be one of the main trades in Inazuma, in part due to the Yae Publishing House, who are known throughout the country as the giant in the printing industry. They occasionally host the "This Novel is Amazing!" contest, which is well known across Teyvat. Prior to the Sakoku Decree, Inazuma frequently traded with other nations. Trade is still possible, but very few ships have the capability to pass through the storms in Inazuma's oceans, and their intensity often results in many goods being lost in the process.

The nation is also known for its toys, fireworks and kimonos, but due to the decree, importing these goods is incredibly hard. While fishing is also an important industry in Inazuma due to the use of fish in dishes, it has seen a decline since the Sakoku Decree was enacted, as the Tenryou Commission sees boats as escape vessels regardless of their size.

Like Liyue, Inazuma also possesses a mining and smithing industry. Jakotsu Mine and the Mikage Furnace are well known in Inazuma, but the former closed after a "sickness" spread throughout the island, while the latter closed after the core went critical, threatening to leak Tatarigami energy until it was fixed, but even then, many are still hesitant to return. Inazuman swords are particularly well known due to the use of Jade Steel, a special material from Tatarasuna.

Politics

Inazuma currently has an isolationist policy in effect due to the Shogun's Sakoku Decree. Known as the Tri-Commission by its people, they act similarly to the collective of the Liyue Qixing and the Eight Trades, with each commission handling different responsibilities.

The Kanjou Commission is the group that handles foreign visitors and citizens wishing to re-enter Inazuma, making sure that their documents are in order. They are led by the Hiiragi Clan.

The Tenryou Commission is the executive group that enforces the Shogun's rule, including the Vision Hunt Decree. They are the group that leads the Shogun's Army in battle. Led by the Kujou Clan, they are the strongest of the Inazuman clans due to their unwavering loyalty and support for the Shogun's rule.

The Yashiro Commission is the group that handles the maintenance of shrines and organization of festivals and cultural events. They have the least amount of influence in the government due to handling internal, mostly civilian affairs. They are led by the Kamisato Clan.

As a result of the Vision Hunt Decree, Visions that are not under her sole dominion are confiscated. Those who refuse are harshly punished, which is implied to result in a severe beating. Most Vision bearers have since gone into hiding, but a few have joined a resistance group that formed to oppose the decree and protect those who sought to hide, resulting in a civil war. Others have bought fake Visions and allowed them to be seized to get the authorities off them. In addition to the resistance, large groups of samurai deserted the army to fight against the decree, although they have since devolved into banditry. Eventually, the Shogun repealed the decree, but the results have yet to be seen.

The only known diplomatic ties they have are with Snezhnaya's Fatui and their merchants. The Fatui, while not appearing to involve themselves in Inazuma's affairs, are revealed to have instigated the civil war and have caused havoc at Tatarasuna and roped both the Kanjou and Tenryou Commission into working with them to prolong the civil war for their Delusion market. The Yashiro Commission was not involved due to the Kamisato Clan's strong ties to the well-being of their people.

Following the unraveling of the Fatui's conspiracy and collaboration with the Kanjou and Tenryou Commission, the Fatui are no longer welcome in Inazuma. The Shogun has also put the Kanjou and Tenryou Commissioners under house arrest and intends to mete appropriate punishment towards them for deceiving her and pulling the nation away from her notions of eternity.

Military

Inazuma's military is collectively known as the Shogun's Army. As a whole, they work for Inazuma's interests, but they are assigned to one of the three Commissions for their duties or directly under the Shogun.

There are some ranks in the system - recruits, captains and samurai. Polearms are the common weapon of choice for non-samurai, while samurai exclusively use swords and bows, given that the art of the sword is highly regarded in the nation.

    Sepertimana yang kita tahu, baru-baru ini Ubisoft telahpun mengeluarkan satu Game Baru yang merupakan game yang di tunggu2 oleh player-player seluruh dunia. Nama game ini adalah Assassin creed Valhallah. Untuk pengetahuan Korang, game ini adalah Game Open World dimana anda bebas memilih apa yang anda lakukan dan ke mana anda hendak nak pergi. Tapi sebelum itu mari kita kenali dulu latar belakang dan cerita di dalam game ini.

Naratif & Latar Belakang

Pada garis masa 873 masihi di Norway, setelah kematian ibu bapa Eivor pada usia muda, Eivor (boleh dipilih sebagai Lelaki atau Perempuan oleh pemain) dijaga dan dibesarkan sebagai salah seorang anak Raja Styrbjorn dari Forberg. Sebagai anak seorang raja, Sigurd (anak lelaki sulung Raja Styrbjorn yang berumur lima tahun lebih tua dari Eivor) berharap dapat mengikuti jejak ayahnya dan memimpin klan mereka dengan Eivor sebagai orang kanannya. Kini sudah besar, Sigurd kembali daripada salah satu pengembaraannya dan berkenalan bersama Hidden Ones. Dengan persahabatan baru ini, Sigurd menerima Hidden Blade (senjata ikonik Assassin’s Creed), lalu menghadiahkan kepada Eivor.

Setelah sekian lama menetap di Norway, Raven Clan (klan Eivor) diusir dari negara kesayangan untuk kerana sebab-sebab politik (Raja Styrbjorn ingin berkerjasama dengan klan lain iaitu, Raja Harald dari Norway). Kemudian permainan memindahkan kita ke England, ketika dalam sejarah adalah zaman Tentera Heathen Besar. Oleh itu, kita akan dibawa ke England semasa ia menghadapi perang, dan kekacauan. Selain bertempur, kami akan ditugaskan untuk membangunkan Settlement (penempatan) dan membina rumah baru di England dengan menjalin persekutuan dengan kerajaan lain (mengikut sistem Alliance di mana anda harus menjalinkan persekututan bersama kerajaan lain). Inilah matlamat sebenar anda!

Sudah tentu, The Order of the Ancients (orang jahat) sudah menguasai England, jadi Eivor harus berurusan dengan mereka (yang bermaksud anda harus membunuh setiap satu) supaya Eivor dapat menetap di England dengan selamat. Dalam pertempuran jarak dekat, tekan R1 untuk serangan ringan dan R2 untuk serangan berat. Serangan ringan adalah cepat dan melakukan damage sederhana. Serangan berat lebih perlahan tetapi memberikan lebih banyak damagedan boleh menghancurkan pertahanan lawan. Untuk “block”, tekan L1. Sekiranya anda menekan pada masa yang tepat, anda boleh “parry” (tepis).   • Overwhelming (Luar biasa)

Power mencerminkan kemajuan anda dan  berdasarkan jumlah nod (titik kemajuan) yang dilengkapi di Skill Tree. Ini juga meningkatkan statistik asas anda, yang akan menambah baik kemampuan Eivor untuk bertahan hidup ketika mencabar musuh yang lebih bahaya. Melengkapkan skill tree juga menentukan gaya permainan anda dan mungkin membuka kapasiti baru. Nod biasa akan meningkatkan statistik pertempuran asas, manakala Main Skill membuka abiliti pertempuran pasif baru.

Terdapat tiga jenis bahagian di Skill Tree iaitu:

  • Wolf
  • Bear
  • Raven

Nod biru memberikan bonus untuk semua bahagian Wolf, nod merah memberikan bonus untuk semua bahagian Bear dan nod kuning memberikan bonus kepada semua bahagian Raven. Skill Tree-nya sangat besar dan agak menakutkan pada mulanya. Ini kerana saya takut untuk menghabiskan skill point dengan cara yang salah. Tetapi nampaknya saya tidak perlu risau kerana anda dapat “reset” skill tree pada bila-bila masa untuk mencari “build” yang paling sesuai untuk gaya permainan anda.

Semasa “crouch” (tekan bulat), anda lebih sukar untuk dilihat. Crouch akan menyembunyikan anda di semak-samun, rumput tinggi, dan ladang luas. Ini adalah cara yang sempurna untuk tidak dikesan, dan membunuh musuh. Musuh yang melihat anda mungkin menyiasat kawasan tersebut tetapi anda boleh mengelakkan daripada dikesan dengan menggunakan jubah (tekan D-PAD dan pilih Cloak), berjalan di samping NPC lain, duduk dengan NPC, atau tersembunyi dalam bangunan. Apabila dikesan, masa akan menjadi perlahan untuk anda bertindak balas. Bertarung atau lari – ia terpulang kepada anda. Hidden Blade pula membolehkan anda melakukan pembunuhan secara sembunyi di mana kita tekan R1 untuk membunuh sasaran. Beberapa sasaran lebih kuat dan tidak boleh dibunuh jika anda tidak mempunyai Power yang diperlukan.

Longship, Krew, & Raid

Kapal layar juga adalah cara yang baik untuk meneroka dunia. Tekan bawah di D-PAD dan pilih longship untuk memanggil kapal anda ke perairan berhampiran. Semasa menghadapi kapal musuh atau berlayar berhampiran lokasi tentera atau penyamun, kapal panjang anda akan berfungsi sebagai unit pertempuran yang sangat baik. Gunakan busur untuk membunuh musuh di mana krew juga akan memberikan sokongan ke arah yang ditentukan.

Raid adalah peluang bagi bagus untuk mendapatkan kekayaan dan sumber untuk Settlement. Semasa Raid, anda dan krew akan terlibat dalam pertempuran berdarah. Matlamat utama bukan hanya untuk membunuh semua musuh, tetapi juga mencari bekalan dan bahan mentah. Kalau sukar untuk jumpa, gunakan Odin’s Sight untuk mencari sumber-sumber tersebut. Raid akan tamat apabila semua harta dan sumber diperolehi.

Settlement (Bina petempatan Eivor) & Mini-Game

Settlement adalah tujuan sebenar dalam pengembaraan Eivor dan merupakan kediaman untuk klan anda. Kita harus menjaganya untuk membuka bangunan dan perkhidmatan baru bagi mengembangkannya. Dengan menambah bangunan baru, tahap Settlement juga akan meningkatkan. Untuk mudahkan perjalanan, pemain harus capai tahap yang tinggi bagi membuka pelbagai kemungkinan baru.

Untuk membina bangunan baru, anda perlu membawa bekalan dan bahan mentah yang mencukupi ke Settlement dan berinteraksi dengan papan tanda di mana Settlement boleh dihiasi dengan pelbagai patung dan barang hiasan agar lebih menarik. Jenis bangunan berbeza juga akan membawa individu baru ke Settlement anda yang akan menjadi sekutu dan memberi perkhidmatan yang berguna semasa perjalanan. Beberapa jenis bangunan yang boleh anda bina ialah:

  • Assassin Bureau: Bangunan ini akan membuka misi untuk mempelajari cara ubah suai Leap of Faith tetapi juga akan membuka menu khas yang berkait dengan jalan cerita.
  • Fisherman hut: Ini membuka aktiviti memancing. Setiap kali anda melihat nelayan dekat dengan sungai, kita boleh menangkap ikan untuk dijual dengan wang. Nelayan juga memiliki senarai misi yang harus diselesaikan untuk mendapatkan hadiah unik.
  • Stable: Buka kemampuan berenang untuk kuda untuk cara navigasi yang lebih mudah. Anda juga boleh mengubah suai rupa gagak di Stable.
  • Barracks: Membolehkan anda membuat Jomsviking sendiri. Rajinkan diri melawat Barracks untuk melihat aktiviti mereka.

Kalau anda ingin berehat daripada buat misi utama atau aktivit-aktiviti lain, kita juga boleh mencuba beberapa mini-game. Sebenarnya ada banyak, tapi saya hanya akan senaraikan 3 dahulu.

  • Flyting: Sejenis perlawanan puisi. Jawapan yang paling sesuai dan tepat akan menangkan pertarungan. Apabila menang dalam Flyting, tahap Charisma akan meningkatkan, lantas akan membuka pilihan dialog khusus.
  • Orlog: permainan dadu di mana anda mengurangkan batu musuh (HP) menjadi 0.
  • Mempunyai 3 fasa di mana anda bergilir-gilir memutar dadu. Pilihan yang lebih baik akan memenangi pertarungan.
  • Permainan minum: Seperti namanya, anda bertarung dengan siapa yang dapat minum lebih cepat. Pada masa yang sama, anda semakin mabuk dan harus menekan butang yang betul semasa QTE supaya Eivor tidak jatuh semasa minum.

Pendapat

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla mempunyai gameplay yang sangat luas. Ini merupakan perkara yang baik kerana berjaya menjauhkan diri daripada permainan Assassin’s Creed yang lebih lama. Sistem Settlement juga membawa rasa keunikan pada permainan yang seharusnya mendorong pemain menjelajah dunia luas dengan pelbagai perkara dan aktiviti yang perlu dilakukan atau dicari.

Naratifnya juga benar-benar bagus yang menyentuh mitologi Norse dan juga mengikat keseluruhan kisah Assassin’s Creed secara keseluruhan. Peminat lama mungkin tidak menyukainya kerana Valhalla tidak berfokus pada elemen stealth tetapi anda masih boleh menggunakan stealth jika suka. Cuma, ia jauh lebih mudah untuk menyerang dan membunuh semua orang daripada lakukannya secara diam-diam. Valhalla dicipta untuk menyesuaikan gaya permainan apa-apa jenis pemain, jadi saya rasa itu adalah perkara yang paling penting. Ini bermaksud bahawa lebih ramai pemain akan bermain dan bukannya hanya memfokuskan perhatian pada satu komuniti gamer sahaja.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla bukanlah sekuel dramatik untuk francais, tetapi suasana bersejarah baru dan beberapa perubahan unik pada formula open-world boleh dikatakan cukup untuk memikat hati saya lagi. Ia membina satu rangkaian yang besar selepas Origins dan Odyssey, jadi semua sepatutnya bertambah lebih baik bermula formula baru ini. Jika saya berani kata, ini akan menjadi permainan open-world pertama yang hebat untuk konsol generasi seterusnya.
